36th Annual AYC Fall Regatta Delivers Competitive Racing and Classic Fall Conditions

American Yacht Club wrapped up its 36th Annual Fall Regatta on Sunday, October 4, bringing together competitive racing, classic fall conditions, and the outstanding hospitality that has become a hallmark of AYC's regattas. The weekend featured the J/44 and J/88 North American Championships, alongside one-design, ORC, and PHRF competition. A total of 58 boats raced across two courses, tackling a mix of windward-leeward and coastal racing on Long Island Sound.

Saturday brought sunshine and favorable breeze, setting the stage for an excellent day of racing, with close competition throughout the fleets. Sunday presented a different challenge, as stronger winds, building seas, and heavier chop tested competitors and crews. Despite the demanding conditions and several retirements, the weekend showcased impressive seamanship and competitive spirit across the fleets.

Back ashore, AYC's signature hospitality was in full swing. Saturday's festivities featured live music by Suburban Chaos, food and refreshments, a complimentary keg courtesy of Doyle Sails, and the popular Ideal 18 Knockout Series racing right off the dock. Save the Sound connected with sailors and guests about protecting our local waters, while Flagship Yacht Sales contributed a dockside cooler to the festivities. On Sunday, competitors returned to the AYC's front lawn for food and live music by Dan Zlotnick, followed by the presentation of class awards and perpetual trophies.

Paul Beaudin of Harlem Yacht Club remarked, "AYC's Spring and Fall Regattas are like none other in the area."

Thank you to all competitors for joining us. We look forward to welcoming you back to American Yacht Club in 2027!
