The 2025 LIS Big Boat Season Kicks Off

Every new year, we look forward to the bright bursts of daffodils and the fast-fading blush of cherry blossoms, but the turn of the season also marks a busy rush to get the bigger boats in the water just in time for the American Yacht Club's Spring Regatta and the Larchmont Yacht Club's Edlu.

The Spring Regatta
This year’s AYC Spring will be sailed over three days. Friday, May 2, will be an afternoon coastal race around government marks (first warning at 1255). For the racing on Saturday and Sunday, the coast racing will be open to both PHRF and ORC competitors, while the windward/leeward racing will be open to ORC boats and J/70, J/88, J/109, and J/44 one-design classes.

The Edlu
LYC’s annual Edlu distance race is the following Saturday, May 10, with the first start at 1000. The Edlu is a relatively quick, 32-miler that starts off the Larchmont Breakwater, goes East to Eaton’s Neck, and back. ORC and PHRF classes will race with double-handed, non-spinnaker, and one-design class breaks as appropriate.

After sailing each day, both the Spring Regatta and Edlu throw epic parties that should not be missed, with live entertainment, great food, and the chance to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.

Don’t be sitting on your mooring this spring when you can be part of this great early season racing in the lower Long Island Sound.
